At Glensaugh we are hard at work on our Scottish Rural Development Programme (SRDP)works. The concrete floor slab for the biomass boiler has been placed and the boiler and accumulation tank are now in-situ awaiting connection. Meanwhile we are sourcing a log splitter which will partly mechanise the fuelwood procurement process; the purchase of this is also being supported through the SRDP.
While livestock work is taking less of our time seasonal tasks still have to be attended to. The tupping (mating) of our crossbred ewes has been under way since 1 November, and the tupps (rams) will soon be introduced to the Blackface flock. While not engaged with livestock work we are busy with seasonal maintenance and once again fencing is high on the list. J B Corrie (our contractors) are almost finished the 2010 programme and we are completing the job by railing in and hanging gates.
