Waters of Philorth Consultation

Residents in the Fraserburgh area are being asked give their views on the route of a potential new footpath.

At the current time, walkers wishing to follow the coast between Fraserburgh and Cairnbulg are blocked by the Waters of Philorth. This enters the sea at the eastern end of Fraserburgh bay meaning walkers have to either return by the same way or walk along the side of a road away from the coast.

East Grampian Coastal Partnership has commissioned a report to investigate a range of possible solutions including using the existing railway line, installing a bridge and using a boardwalk to cross at the estuary mouth.

Residents wishing to participate in the consultation regarding the possible options should visit egcp.org.uk. For a copy of the report detailing all routes and options, contact Ian Hay, Project Manager on 01224 395151.

Copies of the consultation are also available in Fraserburgh Library, King Edward Street, Fraserburgh.

The closing date for responses is the 26th of February 2010.
