At Glensaugh preliminary investigation work is under way in advance of the construction of our wind turbine.
This year’s student seminar day takes place on Thursday 26 March. Ten students from the different research groups will be presenting the work undertaken on their PhDs with the top two presentations going forward to represent the MLURI at the Science for Life Student Festival on 20th and 21st May in Dundee, hosted by the Scottish Crop Research Institute. At Glensaugh calving is in full swing and we are approaching the half way stage. Once again cows are calving without difficulty and milking well, reflecting their body condition and nutritional status.
Macaulay Land Use Research Institute soil scientist, Willie Towers, acted as the technical expert to David Barnes of the Scottish Government at a House of Lords enquiry into the EU Less Favoured Area LFA scheme. Willie briefed David Barnes on the issue and the implications before the session as well as answering questions during the session.
The Macaulay Land Use Research Institute is well represented at the International Alliance of Research Institutes’ Climate Change: Global risks, challenges and decisions conference, being held at Copenhagen University 10-12th March.
